K & M Machine-Fabricating, Inc. in Cassopolis is proud to announce their Earl G. Marhanka Scholarship winners for the fall of 2018. This scholarship program was established in 2001 in recognition of K & M’s 50th anniversary and in honor of the entrepreneurial spirit of its founder, Mr. Earl G. Marhanka. To date, over $220,000 has been awarded to 56 sons and daughters of K & M employees who meet the program requirements. This year’s scholarship winners will receive $2,000, they are:
Maggie Baert – Maggie is a graduate of Penn High School and will be attending Butler University in Indianapolis, IN. where she plans to major in Psychology. At Penn, Maggie was Vice President of Viva Voce Choir. Maggie hopes to one day use her degree to become a criminologist. She is the daughter of Patrick Baert, K & M’s CFO.
Haily Shibinski – Haily is a graduate of Brandywine High School and will be attending Southwestern Michigan College in Dowagiac, MI. where she plans to major in Business Management. Haily continues to work part time at Memorial Hospital while finishing her high school studies. Haily hopes to use her education to one day running her own restaurant. Haily is the daughter of David Shibinski, a CNC Machinist at K & M.
In addition to the 2 new recipients, 3 scholarship winners from previous years are receiving their $2,000 renewable scholarships. They are:
• Zoe Laubach (Bethel College by way of Edwardsburg High School) – daughter of William Green
• Jackson McLoughlin (Marquette University, by way of Lake Michigan Catholic High School) – son of Derek McLoughlin
• Madison McLoughlin (Loyola University New Orleans by way of Lake Michigan Catholic High School) – daughter of Derek McLoughlin
